PHILADELPHIA (April 25, 2008) - The undefeated Philadelphia Soul signed linebacker/wide receiver and Philadelphia resident Sean Scott on Friday. Terms of the deal were not released.
The Soul also placed starting linebacker Rod Davis on injured reserve Friday. Davis suffered a left elbow injury during last Monday's win over Columbus. He is out indefinitely. Davis has 23.5 tackles, two fumble recoveries and two interceptions this season, starting all eight games at the JAC position.
Scott, a fan favorite over the first four years in Philadelphia, rejoins the Soul after spending the first part of this season with the Cleveland Gladiators. In one game with the Gladiators he recorded a half tackle. He spent the first six games of the season on injured reserve. He was released by the club this past Tuesday and is expected to be ready for Monday's game against Dallas. He will wear uniform # 88.
Scott had spent his first four seasons in the league with the Soul before departing for Cleveland in the off-season. Last year with the Soul, Scott had 47 catches for 526 yards with eight touchdowns as a wide receiver. On the defensive side of the ball, he had 17.5 tackles and one sack.
For his career, Scott has made 261 catches for 3,043 yards with 63 TDs, while rushing for 119 yards and nine scores. He has also recorded 126.5 tackles, two sacks and three interceptions in four-plus seasons in the AFL.
Scott, 29, resides in Philadelphia and attended Archbishop Carroll High School in Radnor, PA. He was a four year letter winner at Millersville University, earning All-PSAC honors each season. He set school records for longest TD reception (91 yard) and most receiving yards in a game (227). He set the NCAA record for TDs by a freshman with 13 and set Millersville career records with 240 catches for 3,293 yards, and tied the school mark with 27 TD receptions.
