Dragons sign QB Rohan Davey and DB Chris Angel

The Dragons have bolstered their roster with the additions of two-time Super Bowl Champion QB Rohan Davey and former Dragons DB Chris Angel. Davey was a member of the New England Patriots from 2002 to 2004 and was with the Arizona Cardinals in 2005, while Angel spent the 2005 AFL season with the Dragons.
Davey (6-2, 245) spent a total four seasons in the NFL before signing with the Dragons. As a member of the Patriots, he played in seven games (including two Super Bowls) and recorded eight completions for 88 yards with the longest of 20 yards. He then played for NFL Europe on the Berlin Thunder in 2004 where he was named the NFLEL Offensive Player of the Year after leading the league with a 105.6 passer rating and throwing for 1,676 yards and 19 touchdowns. He led the Thunder to a 9-1 regular season and a World Bowl Championship over the Frankfurt Galaxy.
Prior to his professional career, Davey attended Louisiana State where he was the only quarterback in the school's history to throw for over 3,000 yards in a season with 3,347 yards in 2001. With his twelve starts at quarterback, he ranks fifth in school history with 29 touchdown passes and sixth with 4.415 passing yards. He also led LSU to their first outright SEC title since 1986 and was awarded Sugar Bowl MVP honors in a victory over Illinois after completing 31 of 53 passes for 444 yards and three touchdowns.
"Joining the Dragons is a great opportunity to play and refine my skills on a professional level. Arena Football is a fun and fast paced game which makes you zone in on your skills," said Davey. "You need to focus on your accuracy and timing more than the NFL because of the length of the field and the narrowness. I am looking forward to this opportunity on Long Island."
Added Dragons head coach Weylan Harding: "We are very excited to be able to bring in someone of Rohan's talents and his obvious pedigree. The coaching staff feels that Rohan has the potential to come in and provide a high level of competition and do well. We also feel we have raised the stakes with acquiring a guy of his caliber."
Angel (5-11, 205), played in the defensive backfield for the Dragons in 2005 and recorded 87.0 tackles, 27 assisted tackles, 1.0 sacks, 14 pass breakups and two interceptions for 28 yards. He began his AFL career in 2004 playing for the Georgia force and spent last season in Nashville. In his career, Angel has recorded 128.0 tackles, 52 assisted tackles, 1.0 sacks, 19 pass breakups, two interceptions for 28 yards and two kick returns for 16 yards. He now returns to the Dragons to start his fourth AFL season.

Chris is a very smart and physical player who was sorely missed last year. We look forward to him providing competition and raising the bar of play."
