Grand Rapids Rampage News Release

GRAND RAPIDS - The Grand Rapids Rampage announced defensive back Reggie Doster (Deerfield Beach, Fla.) as their newest free-agent acquisition for their upcoming 10th Anniversary Season. The five-year Arena Football League veteran spent last season as a defensive specialist for the Philadelphia Soul.

In 2006, Doster intercepted a career-high three passes, forced a career-high two fumbles and added five receptions for 22 yards and a touchdown. His shutdown presence aided Philadelphia teammate Eddie Moten's AFL-best 13-interception season, and the Soul defense led the league in total interceptions with 28.

"Reggie is one of the most respected defensive backs in the league," said Sparky McEwen, head coach and director of football operations for the Rampage. "Having his physical presence and experience this season will add instant value to our entire secondary."

Doster began his AFL career in 2002 in Orlando, where he recorded 137 tackles in two seasons with the Predators. In 2004, he excelled with the now defunct Detroit Fury, leading the team in tackles (71.5), breaking up 20 passes and hauling in a pair of interceptions. Doster returned to Orlando in 2005 before following Predators assistant head coach and defensive coordinator Bret Munsey to Philadelphia in 2006.

Prior to his time spent in the AFL, Doster spent two years with NFL clubs and a season in the XFL. The University of Central Florida product signed with the Oakland Raiders as an undrafted free agent in 1999, and spent the 2000 training camp with the Atlanta Falcons. In 2001, Doster joined the Orlando Rage of the XFL, helping the team to a 9-1 record and a trip to the Eastern Conference Championship.

The 5-10, 190-pound Florida native played four years (1995-98) at Central Florida, including his final three seasons at the cornerback and safety positions. He completed his collegiate career with 191 tackles, 25 pass breakups and four interceptions. As a wide receiver during his freshman campaign, Doster accumulated 350 receiving yards while catching 25 passes, most of which were thrown by current NFL quarterback and Pro Bowler Daunte Culpepper.

Grand Rapids currently has 26 active players under contract. The Rampage may report to training camp with as many as 37 active players.
