Dragons sign Frank Ferrara

The New York Dragons today announced the singing of defensive lineman Frank Ferrara, formerly of the NFL's New York Giants. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Ferrara (6-3, 280), a New York native, signs with the Dragons after spending time in the NFL, NFL Europe and CFL. During his NFL career, Ferrara played in 27 games with the New York Giants from 2001-2003 where he recorded 3.5 sacks. He also spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles and the San Diego Chargers.
"The Dragons are very excited to sign a guy of Frank Ferrara's caliber. I think fans of the New York area will be excited to have one of their own on the team," said head coach Weylan Harding. "Frank is not only a good player, but a guy with good character as well and we are heading in the right direction signing someone with his abilities."
The Giants granted Ferrara free agency in 2004 and he signed with the British Columbia Lions in 2005. Ferrara started in all 18 games and ranked third on the team with four tackles for loss. He also recorded three sacks and returned one interception for 21 yards. Before signing with the Giants, Ferrara spent time with the Amsterdam Admirals of the NFL Europe.
"I'm excited for a new league and a new opportunity," said Ferrara. "I've played in the NFL, NFLEL and the CFL, and now I'm ready to take on another league with Arena. I've played in many places around the world and it's great to be back home and to have this opportunity with the Dragons."
Prior to his professional career, Ferrara attended college at Rhode Island where he majored in communications. He finished his career in Rhode Island as the all-time leader in sacks with 33 and all-time leader in tackles for loss with 49. As a senior in 1998, Ferrara set the Ram's single-season record for sacks with 15 and tackles for loss with 27. He was named second team All-Conference and Football Writers' First Team All-New England. He also received second team All-American honors in 1998 and the Scholar Athlete Award.
When Ferrara is off the football field, you can find him on a number of TV/movie sets. Ferrara has appeared on the Sopranos and as a stuntman in movies such as Meet Joe Black, Die Hard: With a Vengeance, Anger Management, The Forgotten, Godzilla and many more.
