Dragons personnel make Arena Bowl predictions

June 10, 2005 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
New York Dragons News Release

(June 10) As the countdown to ArenaBowl XIX in Las Vegas winds down, several members of the Dragons organization took a few minutes to give www.Newyorkdragons.com their prediction on the big game. Kickoff between the Colorado Crush and Georgia Force is scheduled for 3:30 PM at the Thomas & Mack Center. The game is being broadcasted on NBC with Tom Hammond and Pat Haden on the call. For more information on ArenaBowl XIX, visit www.Arenabowl.com.

Peter Schwartz – Dragons' radio play-by-play announcer

Pick: Georgia

Score: 65-60

Breakdown: Both teams are on magic carpet rides following their breathtaking Conference Championship victories. Whose story will have the happy ending? The Georgia Force. They've been the most consistent team in the league from start to finish. First year head coach Doug Plank brought a defensive mentality from Arizona and the addition of WR Chris Jackson gives them an explosive offense that already includes rookie standouts Troy Bergeron and Derek Lee along with QB Matt Nagy.

Wayne Morris – Dragons' radio analyst

Pick: Georgia

Score: 62-52

Breakdown: Entering this game, both teams are coming off close and exciting victories. The margin of era will be slim and in the end Georgia has too many offensive weapons at the receiver position with Jackson, Lee and Bergeron for the Crush secondary to handle. I just don't believe Colorado is deep enough to contain all three. Simply put, the Crush will not be able to come up with the big defensive stop in the fourth quarter.

Weylan Harding – Dragons Head Coach

Pick: Georgia

Score: 54-46

Breakdown: It's a toss up, but I'm leaning towards Georgia. They have a solid receiving core and an advantage on the line. Their defensive backs are also a little bit more sound.

Rory Vacco – Dragons Director of Player Personnel

Pick: Georgia

Score: 54-46

Breakdown: All around team play goes to Georgia: Offense, defense and special teams... QB: Georgia, OL/DL: Georgia, FB/LB: Colorado, WR's: Georgia, DB's: Georgia, K: Colorado. Georgia wins seven of nine categories and the game.

Billy Parker – Dragons DS and 2005 Team MVP

Pick: Colorado

Score: 52-45

Breakdown: People are saying Colorado is the underdog in this one and I love an underdog. Both teams are very talented and it'll be a shootout. But I think Colorado will come out on top. Their quarterback has won the big game before and that could be the deciding factor.

Markeith Cooper – Dragons OS and former Georgia Force

Pick: Georgia

Score: 63-42

Breakdown: Georgia is really hot right now and everything is going their way. They're the best team in the league.

Corey Johnson – Dragons WR/DB and Georgia native

Pick: Georgia

Score: Georgia by 17

Breakdown: I think Georgia will wind up coming out on top because they have an explosive offense and their defense will create some turnovers. It'll be close at the start, but they'll pull ahead in the third quarter and win.
