Today's Game: The Dayton Dragons (affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds) meet the Quad Cities River Bandits (affiliate of the Houston Astros) in the last game of a three-game series. Season Series/Current Series to Date: Quad Cities 2, Dayton 0.
Recent Performances: The Dragons are 9-8 since opening the second half by losing their first four games, but they have lost five of their last seven games. Quad Cities is 9-3 since opening the second half with a 2-6 record.
Last Game: Thursday: Quad Cities 4, Dayton 3. The Dragons committed six errors (one short of the club record) including five in the first four innings, but still had a chance to win after Leandro Santana's game-tying two-run home run in the sixth. Quad Cities broke the tie with a run in the eighth, and the Dragons left runners in scoring position in the eighth and ninth. Quad Cities had chances to build a lead but the River Bandits went 0 for 16 with runners in scoring position. It has been a tough series for Dayton hitters as they have collected just seven hits and only one extra base hit while striking out 21 times against the MWL's best pitching staff.
2018 Team Notes
The Dragons 2.91 ERA in the month of July ranks third among the 16 MWL teams. Quad Cities ranks first at 1.80.
The Dragons have allowed three runs or less in 12 of their 21 second half games. Their second half ERA is 3.62 (5.31 in the first half). Outside of two high-scoring games vs. South Bend, the Dragons team ERA in the second half would be 2.89 in the other 19 games (168 IP, 54 ER). The Midwest League average team ERA in 2018 is 3.91.

Jose Garcia is batting .302 over his last 15 games. The streak has lifted Garcia's average from .196 to .219.
Jeter Downs is batting .282 with two home runs and a .402 on-base percentage in the second half.
Lorenzo Cedrola, acquired last week in a trade with Boston, is batting .381 over his last five games, going 8 for 21.
