New York Dragons News Release

(July 1, 2008) - New York Dragons QB Aaron Garcia and FB/LB Idris Price took home two AFL weekly honors this week after the Dragons 77-63 Wild Card victory over Dallas. Garcia was named Offensive Player of the Week, and Price was named Ironman of the Week.

Garcia had one of the best postseason performances in his long career against Dallas, completing 28-of-39 passes for 330 yards and nine touchdowns. His nine touchdowns were a personal career postseason best, and it tied the league record for touchdowns in a postseason game.

After throwing an interception off the iron in the Dragons opening drive in Dallas last Friday, Garcia led the Dragons to touchdowns on 11 straight possessions to seal the victory. Garcia also became just the seventh player in league history to throw more than 50 postseason touchdowns; he has now thrown 55 in nine playoff game appearances.

Veteran Idris Price was named Ironman of the Week. When FB/LB Ricky Hall went down with a leg injury to end his season, Price's number was called to take over fullback duties. In the Wild Card win over Dallas, Price recorded three tackles and one QBH on defense, and added four rushes for two yards and two touchdowns on offense.

Garcia, Price and the rest of the Dragons will take on their divisional rivals, the Philadelphia Soul this Saturday, July 5th in the Divisional Round of the 2008 playoffs. Kickoff is set for 7:00pm ET at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia.
