Dayton Dragons News Release

Dayton, Ohio-Dayton Dragons media relations assistant and radio broadcaster Owen Serey has been selected as the new radio voice of the South Bend Silver Hawks of the Midwest League, joining a list of Dragons' broadcasters to advance within the industry.

Serey spent three years with the Dragons. He assisted Dragons' Director of Broadcasting Tom Nichols in 2008 and served in the same role under Mike Vander Woude in 2006 and '07. The University of Dayton graduate will broadcast all home and road games for the Silver Hawks in 2009 in his first opportunity to serve as a minor league baseball team's primary broadcaster.

Vander Woude, who served as the voice of the Dragons as Director of Media Relations and Broadcasting from the club's inaugural season of 2000 through the 2007 season, is now the voice of the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees, a Triple-A club in the International League.

Serey followed Mike Benton as the Dragons' #2 broadcaster. Benton now serves as the voice of the Stockton Thunder of the East Coast Hockey League. Prior to Benton, Nick Brunker spent two seasons as the Dragons' #2 broadcaster. Brunker went on to become the voice of the Toledo Storm of the East Coast Hockey League and now hosts the college basketball talk show, Full Court Press, on 1530 Homer in Cincinnati.

The Dragons expect to name a replacement for Serey in the #2 broadcaster role within the next two weeks. Nichols will remain as the Dragons' Director of Media Relations and Broadcasting and serve as the club's primary play-by-play voice.
