PLAYERS PREPARE TO BATTLE FOR 21 ROSTER SPOTS

HIDALGO, TX: March 13, 2004 – The Rio Grande Valley Dorados of the arenafootball2 league open training camp March 18th with a pair of morning workouts at Hidalgo High School.

The Dorados will invite an estimate of 35 players into camp, which begins with a pair of practice sessions on Thursday, March 18th from 8:30 am - noon. Practices will remain at Hidalgo's Pirate Stadium (910 E. Pirate Dr., Hidalgo, Tx) on March 19th and 20th with workouts from 8:30 am - noon. Head Coach Gary Gussman will have to submit his 30-man roster into the af2 offices by midnight on the 20th (Saturday night).

The squad will practice together for the first time inside the Dodge Arena in a closed session on Sunday, March 21st before opening the arena doors to take part in the Dorados Open House and Media Day from 6-8 pm. The field will be laid out at the Dodge Arena and fans will have an opportunity to go on the field and get autographs from the players and cheerleaders. Season ticket holders will have an opportunity to pick up their season tickets at the event, while non-season ticket holders may look at available seats to purchase and get additional ticket information. For media members, this will be the best opportunity to interview fans, coaches, players, cheerleaders and get photo shoots and assignments accomplished. Print media members will not need to take head shot photos at this time, as the Dorados will be providing CDs containing head shots of all players and cheerleaders.

The team will continue practicing on March 22nd until the roster is trimmed to 21 players on March 29th, but the practice schedule for the week of March 22 - 29th will be announced at a later time due to arena availability. Due to the busy schedules and itineraries with the team functions during training camp, media interviews must be done at the completion of the last session held during each day (around noon each practice day). Players may not be interviewed on the sideline while practice is in session. Any special requests made outside of this must be approved through Coach Gussman. Once again, this is for interviews only. Photographers may shoot practice sessions at any time.

The Dorados have also gone online, with their new website www.doradosfootball.com, which is powered by MyRGV.COM. The site contains the latest in Dorados news, game day info, ticket info, player information, and will feature online streaming of all Dorados games. Season tickets are currently on sale and may be purchased by stopping by the Dodge Arena offices (2600 N. 10th St. in Hidalgo, Tx) or contacting them by phone at 956-843-7825. The Dorados kick-off their inaugural campaign April 3rd against the Laredo Law. Individual tickets go on sale Monday at all Dodge Arena ticket outlets. Additional ticket information and corporate opportunities are available by contacting the Dorados offices at 956-843-7825.
