Dorados defeat Wildcats 45-42

Hidalgo, Texas-- It was a back and forth battle between the Rio Grande Valley Dorados and the South Georgia Wildcats in a game that consisted of a combined 22 penalties, three interceptions, two safeties, and a nearly 10 minute long drive by the Wildcats. Rio came out on top with the win 45-42.

Each team scored only once in the first quarter and a missed extra point by Dorado Cameron Broadwell left the Wildcats on top 7-6 ending the first. Rio picked up three more touchdowns in the second, while the Wildcats only contracted two as well as a safety with 3.7 left in the quarter to end the half with the Dorado lead 27-22.

To start out the third Dorado Tolifili Liufau gained back the safety, and back-to-back interceptions resulted in a Wildcat touchdown after a nearly 10 minute long drive to tie things up. A crucial fumble recovery by Mel Long with 6:32 left in the game resulted in a 28 yard field goal by Broadwell to seal the deal for the Dorados 45-42, despite a touchdown by South Georgia with only 1:06 left.
