TWO VALLEY PRODUCTS JOIN DORADOS

McALLEN BORN DE LOS SANTOS AND TAMKU STAR DAVIS ASSIGNED TO DORADOS

HIDALGO, TX: February 26, 2004 – The Rio Grande Valley Dorados of arenafootball2 (af2) were assigned defensive specialist Nick Davis and Offensive/Defensive lineman Kevin De Los Santos to their 2004 roster by the af2 offices.

"Davis is another player that comes highly recommended from the coaching staff at Texas A&M - Kingsville, said Dorados Head Coach Gary Gussman. "He is a fierce competitor and good athlete. I saw Kevin at an Arena Football League open camp in Austin and not only did he perform well at that camp, he came into our camp held in the Valley and performed well there. Plus, he brings indoor experience to our squad."

Davis, a 5'11" 195-pound defensive specialist joins the Dorados for his first season of af2 play. He completed his college career in 2002 at Texas A&M University - Kingsville (TAMKU) and was the second leading tackler on the squad, one shy off the leader with 100 tackles. Of his 100 tackles, 13 were for a loss and 6 of them were sacks. He also had a role on special teams, returning 23 kickoffs for 606 yards and a season-long return of 85 yards. Davis was honored after his senior season, as he was named an a first-team All-American, All-Lone Star Conference (LSC) first team member, and was named the LSC Defensive Back of the Year. He was also on the Football Gazette and Daktronics All-West Region squads. The Dodge City Community College transfer joined TAMKU as a junior in 2001 and led the team in tackles with 80. The 24 year-old was a first team All-LSC selection and helped guide the program to a LSC Championship. Davis was a standout at Ely High School in Pompano Beach, Florida. He was one of the top running backs in South Florida and touted as a top recruit by PrepStar Magazine after completing a career that included 582 carries for 3,748 yards and had over 60 touchdowns.

De Los Santos is a 29 year-old native of McAllen and joins the Dorados for his first year of action in the af2. He grew up as a child in McAllen and then moved to Austin, Texas, where he played high school football at Austin-Westwood High School. The 6'4" 280-pound lineman has spent entire playing career in Austin. Last season, he played in the National Indoor Football League (NIFL) with the Austin Rockers and led the team in blocked kicks. De Los Santos played under Bucky Godbolt, former University of Texas Running Backs Coach (coached Ricky Williams and Priest Holmes), with the North American Football League's (NAFL) Austin Rattlers. He helped the Rattlers gain a NAFL National title and then joined Godbolt indoors in 2002 with the NIFL's Austin Knights.

Davis and De Los Santos mark the 16th and 17th players announced to the Dorados roster, joining Marcus Bradley (def. specialist), Gary Briggs (WR/DB) Will Burch (QB), Spencer Conley (OL./DL), Michael Duncan (WR/DB), Rico Gardner (WR/LB), Abel Gonzalez (QB) Preston Hartfield (WR/DB), Eric Houle (K), Raymond James (OL/DL), Brent McDonald (FB/LB), Jason Null (FB/LB), Manwell Talbert (WR/LB), Anthony Terrell (WR/DB) and Donte Wells (WR/DB).
