Hidalgo, Texas --- The Rio Grande Valley Dorados, arenafootball2's defending Southwest Division champions, today announced that the team has been assigned WR Coco Blalock, DB Stephen McCoy and OL/DL Lavon Ward.

Blalock (5-foot-10, 188) set a Dorados franchise record with 2270 all purpose yards last season. He led the team with 967 kick return yards and finished second with 957 receiving yards and 20 TDs. In nine games this season he posted 803 all purpose yards, 488 receiving yards and eight TDs with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers and Green Bay Blizzard. Blalock is expected to dress for this Friday's game at Bossier-Shreveport.

McCoy is a 6-foot-0, 180-pound Fort Worth native who played college football at Texas A&M-Kingsville. As a senior in 2006, he appeared in 10 games for the Javelinas and made 29 tackles and recovered two fumbles.

Ward played college ball at American International College. The 6-foot-3, 320-pound lineman appeared in one game for the Texas Copperheads this season.

McCoy and Ward are not expected to dress for Friday's game.

The Dorados travel to Bossier-Shreveport to face the Battle Wings this Friday at 5 p.m. The game will be broadcast online-only via the af2 Network. Visit www.doradosfootball.com and click "Watch the Game."

Rio returns home for "Guy's Night Out" on Monday, July 14 at 7:30 p.m. The first 1,000 adults through the doors will receive a Dorados jersey, courtesy Fox Rio 2, Q94.5 The Rock Station and San Juan Pharmacy.

Fans will enjoy $1.50 beer all night and halftime will feature a Powder Puff football game between the Dorados Dancers and McAllen Hooters Girls. Alex Del Barrio (Fox 2 Sports) will serve as the honorary team captain for the Dorados Dancers while Mighty Mike Quinn of Q94.5 will serve in the same capacity for the Hooters team.

In addition, all fans who bring a care pack for Operation Interdependence will receive a voucher redeemable for one of the final two Dorados regular season home games of 2008. Items to be donated should fit in a quart-size zip lock bag. Operation Interdependence supports American troops overseas by delivering "goodie bags."
