DORADOS ADD COOK AND LOVETT

TIM COOK AND HERMAN LOVETT ASSIGNED TO DORADOS

HIDALGO, TX: March 10, 2004 – The Rio Grande Valley Dorados of arenafootball2 (af2) were assigned offensive / defensive lineman Tim Cook and fullback/linebacker Herman Lovett to their 2004 roster by the af2 offices.

"Tim has experience in the indoor game and adds size and quickness to our offensive and defensive line," said Dorados Head Coach Gary Gussman. "As for Herman, I like his overall size and toughness for his position."

Cook, a 6'4" 295-pound lineman joins the Dorados for his first season of af2 play, but he brings five years of indoor experience and seven years of overall football experience. The Pflugerville, Texas native played his high school football at Pflugerville High School and then turned pro while going to college. He began in 1997 with the Texas Stars and claimed an International Football League title. The 27 year-old went indoors in 1998 with the Texas Bullets (Belton, Texas) of the Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL). The PIFL changed to the Indoor Professional Football League (IPFL) in 1999 and Cook made a change as well moving from Belton to Austin to join the IPFL's Texas Terminators. In 2000, Cook joined the IPFL's Idaho Stallions and later returned to Austin and played two seasons outdoors with the North American Football League's (NAFL) Austin Rattlers. Cook has played the previous two seasons in the National Indoor Football League (NIFL) with the Austin Knights (2002) and the Austin Rockers (2003).

Lovett is a 24 year-old native of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and joins the Dorados for his first year of action in the af2. He turns pro after playing three seasons at Union College, which is a NAIA program located in Barbourville, Kentucky. While at Union, the 6'1" 248-pound fullback/linebacker combined for 175 tackles (66 unassisted and 109 assisted) in 27 games and also had 14 pass deflections and 4.5 sacks. Lovett was a two-time Mid-South Conference All-Conference honorable mention recipient (2000,2001) and was named as a Second Team member after his senior season. He led Union in 2002 with 101 tackles off of a team high 36 unassisted tackles and 65 assisted tackles to earn NAIA First Team All-American honors by the NAIA Football Gazette.

Cook and Lovett mark the 18th and 19th players announced to the Dorados roster, joining Marcus Bradley (def. specialist), Gary Briggs (WR/DB) Will Burch (QB), Spencer Conley (OL./DL), Nick Davis (def. specialist), Kevin De Los Santos (OL/DL), Michael Duncan (WR/DB), Rico Gardner (WR/LB), Abel Gonzalez (QB) Preston Hartfield (WR/DB), Eric Houle (K), Raymond James (OL/DL), Brent McDonald (FB/LB), Jason Null (FB/LB), Manwell Talbert (WR/LB), Anthony Terrell (WR/DB) and Donte Wells (WR/DB).
