September 2, 2009 - Texas League (TL1)
Tulsa Drillers News Release
The Tulsa Drillers hope to be a participant in the Texas League Playoffs, but either way the team will play the final three regular season games ever at Drillers Stadium over the Labor Day Weekend. The Drillers will host a three-game series with the Northwest Arkansas Naturals (Kansas City Royals) that will run from Saturday, September 5 through Monday, September 7.
The three games will be the conclusion of 29 seasons of professional baseball at Drillers Stadium. Next year, the Drillers will play at ONEOK Field, a new downtown park that is being built in the historic Greenwood District.
The Drillers and Naturals are locked in a two-team battle for the second-half title in the North Division of the Texas League. The winner will play Springfield in the best-of-five North Division Playoff Series.
The Final Weekend at Drillers Stadium will be filled with activities commemorating the nearly three decades at the stadium.
On Saturday, the first 1,500 fans will receive replicas of Sutton Stadium, the original name for the park during its first two seasons.
Following the game on Sunday, a Fireworks Spectacular will take place. It is being billed as the final and largest Fireworks show ever at Drillers Stadium.
