April 18, 2002 - NBA G League (G League)
Roanoke Dazzle News Release
NEW YORK, N.Y., April 18, 2002 â Donna Daniels, Team President of the Roanoke Dazzle, has been called up to the NBA and named Vice President, NBDL Marketing.
"This was a wonderful opportunity to continue working within the NBDL family and help build on the foundation each team has in place," said Daniels. "My experiences over the past season with the Dazzle can only help me be successful in my new position. Thank you to our fans, supporters and staff for making my time in Roanoke unforgettable."
As Vice President of NBDL Marketing, Daniels will be responsible for the league's advertising and promotional plans, activating local sponsorship programs, and team ticket promotions.
"Donna's broad range of experience, together with the perspective she gained building the Dazzle will serve her well in this new position," said Rob Levine, NBA Senior Vice President, New League Development.
Daniels, who was the team president of the Roanoke Dazzle during the inaugural season, oversaw the club's business affairs, community relations programs, ticket sales, marketing, promotions and communications.
Prior to joining the Dazzle, Daniels spent 10 years working in the NBA's team marketing and business operations, marketing partnerships and media programs departments, most recently as Senior Director of Team Marketing. She was also instrumental in developing the NBDL's marketing strategies.
Daniels, who earned her Bachelor of Arts in English from Hobart and William Smith Colleges, started her career with Madison Square Garden Radio in media sales. Prior to her tenure at the NBA, Daniels also worked for Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising as a Sports Media Buyer and for Madison Square Garden Networks in media sales.
Donna's hiring represents the third NBDL executive call up to a major league organization since the NBDL's inaugural season began last November.
The NBDL, the NBA's minor league, includes the Fayetteville Patriots (N.C.), North Charleston Lowgators (S.C.), Huntsville Flight (Ala.), Mobile Revelers (Ala.), Roanoke Dazzle (Va.), Columbus Riverdragons (Ga.), Greenville Groove (S.C.), and Asheville Altitude (N.C.). The league offers players the opportunity to develop their talent in a highly competitive atmosphere under the NBA's umbrella. Seven NBDL players were called up to the NBA during the NBDL's inaugural season. The NBDL serves as a source of on-court talent for the NBA's 29 teams and as a diverse human resources pool for the NBA and its teams by training employees in management, operations, public relations, sales and marketing positions in each NBDL city.
