JACKSONVILLE, FL - Tuesday, November 16, 2010 - Two of the United Football League's top running backs, CORY ROSS of the Sacramento Mountain Lions and DOMINIC RHODES of the Florida Tuskers, have been named UFL co-Offensive Players of Week 9.

Sacramento defensive end ERIC MONCUR earned UFL Defensive Player of the Week honors, and Florida Tuskers kicker NICK NOVAK is the league's Special Teams Player of the Week.

All four now hope to clinch a berth in the 2010 UFL Championship Game for the right to face the Las Vegas Locos at Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha, Nebraska at 11am on Saturday, November 27. Rhodes, Novak and the Tuskers will advance with a win over the hometown Nighthawks in the Week 10 clash this Friday, November 19, kickoff 7.30pm (live on HDNet). The Mountain Lions will sit nervously at home during their bye week, knowing they will clinch with a Nighthawks win, based on winning a potential three-team 4-4 tiebreaker in the standings.

United Football League Players of Week 9

Offense Cory Ross, RB, Sacramento Mountain Lions

Dominic Rhodes, RB, Florida Tuskers

Defense Eric Moncur, DE, Sacramento Mountain Lions

Special Teams Nick Novak, K, Florida Tuskers

Ross set the league record for longest run from scrimmage with a 75-yard touchdown jaunt in the Mountain Lions 41-3 home win against the Omaha Nighthawks. Ross ended the night with 125 yards and 2 touchdowns on just 11 carries, and added 6 catches for 39 yards. The UFL rushing leader in 2009, Ross boasts a league-high 56 catches in 2010.

"He gets better as the season goes on, he always has," said Sacramento head coach DENNIS GREEN. "I think its part of coming from Nebraska, where things are hard-nosed and tough. By the time November comes around, it's cold and the ground is hard and they have their best games coming up. Cory always played well at the end of the year and he still does that."

Rhodes posted his second straight 100-yard rushing game in the Tuskers 41-7 home win over the Hartford Colonials. He ended the night with 102 yards and 2 touchdowns on 20 carries. A Super Bowl winner with the Indianapolis Colts, Rhodes now has a league-high 10 touchdowns this fall, and at least one touchdown in all seven games in 2010.

"I appreciate everything the o-line has done for me and what the defense has done as well," Rhodes said. "The defense has been amazing - they're just going lights out to the ball. And when they come off the defense, they're telling us `Okay, go get us one.'"

"I've been blessed to play this game and I've been blessed to have some great games here in the UFL."

Moncur recorded two sacks and three solo tackles in the Mountain Lions victory at a packed Hornet Stadium. A backup defensive end who joined the team on October 11, Moncur tied the league record for sacks in a game.

Novak was 5-for-5 on extra points and 2-for-2 on field goals, hitting from 39 and 44 yards, in the Tuskers home win. Novak has hit 13 field goals this season, meaning his generous donation of $50-per-field goal pledge to the American Cancer Society has netted $650 for the good cause so far in 2010.
