PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - The Arizona Sundogs of the Central Hockey League announced today the team has placed J.F. Perras on goaltender I.R. and has signed rookie netminder Sergey Klimkovich.
Perras left in the first period of a 4-2 win over the Tulsa Oilers on December 13 after sustaining an injury midway through the frame.
The Embrun, Ontario, native (7-7-2) has one shutout on the year and has backstopped the team to seven of its eight wins this season, recording a 3.26 goals against average (GAA) and.898 save percentage (SV%). Perras ranks second in the CHL in games played (18) and seventh in minutes played (975:46).
The 6-foot, 190-pound backstop earned the CHL's Performance of the Week on November 7 for his 47-save performance in a 4-2 win over the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees on October 30. Perras turned aside all but two shots in the contest, including 20 first-period attempts and 18 third-period shots, helping his club to the win and points in three-straight contests.
Klimkovich, 23, skated in Arizona's training camp in early October before being left off the final roster. The 6-foot-3, 193-pound netminder spent parts of six seasons in Russia before signing with Arizona.
