Dogs Command Generals, 4-2

June 26, 2015 - Coastal Plain League (Coastal Plain)
Fayetteville SwampDogs News Release

PETERSBURG, Va. - Great starting pitching and timely hitting are a formula that often results in wins, and that was the case for the SwampDogs Thursday evening, as they beat the Petersburg Generals 4-2 in the first game of what was scheduled to be a doubleheader, before rain washed out the second contest.

Nick Miceli (Soph./Wesleyan) went the distance, registering the SwampDogs' first complete game of the season, going seven innings, allowing the two runs on five hits, while walking two and striking out nine.

Brandon Boggetto (Jr./Southeast Missouri) had a three-hit game including a double and an RBI, while Tanner Woods (Soph./Chowan) had two hits, including a home run, his second of the year.

With the win, Miceli improves to 3-0 on the season, and recorded his first Quality Start.

With the SwampDogs leading 4-1 in the bottom of the third of game two, the skies opened up, and the game was postponed as the field became flooded with water.

The SwampDogs (10-13) are back home tomorrow against the Peninsula Pilots for Green Night presented by The Re-Store Warehouse starting at 7:05 pm. Reserve your tickets now!
