Do Your Best, Never Quit lining up additional seminars

July 22, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Buffalo Silverbacks News Release

Buffalo, NY. Sterling Sheppard, coordinator for the ABA Buffalo Silverbacks Do Your Best, Never Quit Seminars announced that the team is accepting applications for additional seminars throughout the summer and fall.

Do Your Best, Never Quit is the title of the life seminars given by the Buffalo Silverbacks basketball players. Their goal is to perform 100 seminars at local youth organizations and community centers before the start of the season. Through this effort, the Buffalo Silverbacks plan to impact the lives of thousands of WNY youths.

The Do Your Best, Never Quit philosophy teaches children to focus on the effort they apply to a situation rather than the result. In essence, it's not about the win or loss, it's about believing in yourself and doing the best you can. The Silverbacks players use personalized real life examples to relate this to our youth and prove to them that this message applies to all of life, not just basketball.

The objective: To impact an "I CAN" attitude with each child. The message: Your goals can be reached if you "Do Your Best, Never Quit."

In order to insure that the Do Your Best, Never Quit message doesn't fade, the Buffalo Silverbacks are donating season tickets to local community youth organizations. Players work closely with club directors to award children with tickets for demonstrating Do Your Best, Never Quit behavior. This gives the youth groups a tool with which to motivate and allows children the opportunity to re-connect with the players. "We feel that personal interaction from a positive role model will go much further than a material gift," stated Sheppard.
