
DL Jermaine Smith Returns to Tampa Bay Storm

TAMPA BAY - The Tampa Bay Storm are pleased to announce the addition of defensive lineman Jermaine Smith.
"Jermaine is a pro," said Ewart. "He still has that hunger and knows what it takes to make a difference on the defensive line."
Smith (6-foot-3, 310 lbs., Georgia) returns for his ninth season in the league and second with Tampa Bay. He was named Second-Team All-Arena in 2010 after finishing second on the team and eighth in the AFL with seven sacks. He currently ranks first all-time in the AFL with 53.0 tackles for a loss, second with 12 career blocked kicks and is tied for fifth with 44.5 career sacks.
Prior to joining the Storm in 2010 he spent six seasons with the Georgia Force, where is the team's all-time leader in sacks and games played (93) and one season with the Orlando Predators. He has been named to the All-Arena team six times in his career.
Originally drafted by the Green Bay Packers in 1997, he spent four years with the team 1997-2000. Smith then spent one season in the XFL with the Las Vegas Outlaws where he helped lead the XFL's top-rated defensive unit.
Defensive lineman Greg Taplin (Michigan State) was placed on injured reserve with an ankle injury. He currently is third on the team with two sacks.
The Tampa Bay Storm play the Dallas Vigilantes on Amalie Motor Oil field at the St. Pete Times Forum this Saturday, April 23 at 7:30 PM. Brighthouse Sports Network will broadcast the game live while 620 AM-WDAE will carry it on the radio.
