Wachusett Dirt Dawgs News Release

NASHUA, NH - It was too little, too late for the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs.

Going into the ninth down four runs to the Nashua Silver Knights, the Dirt Dawgs (15-20) knew they needed to get the bats going.

After two quick outs, John Jennings (UMass Amherst), Tim Corey (Colby), and Tyler Mikrut (SEMO) loaded the bases. Austin Sistrunk (Lipscomb) then hit a two RBI single to cut the Knights' lead to two.

The Knights turned to pitcher Cody Rocha (Assumption), who earned the final out to secure the 8-6 victory for Nashua (22-12).

Cole Warren (URI) earned the win for the Silver Knights, moving to 2-1 on the season.

Joey Gaouette (William & Mary) took the loss for the Dirt Dawgs; he went 4.1 innings, allowing seven runs on ten hits. Gaouette moves to 1-2 on the year.

Joe Saia's (Suffolk) pitching kept Wachusett in the game, as he gave up only 1 run over 3.2 innings pitched.

On the offensive side, Mikrut led the way for the Dirt Dawgs with four hits, an RBI, and a run scored.

Jennings, Sistrunk, and Jamill Moquete (UMass Boston) each added two hits for Wachusett.

The Dirt Dawgs will look to get back on track tomorrow as they travel to Pittsfield to take on the Suns. First pitch is at 4:00 PM.
