When Matt Lerner led off the game with a hit for the Dirt Dawgs, it looked as if the they would finally be able to defeat the Pittsfield Suns, who they were 0-2 against entering the game. However Lerner's hit would be the only one for quite a while as the bats were shut down until the 6th inning. That's when shortstop Shane Keddy got a single to load the bases. Davidson Peguero was then hit by a pitch to score Lerner, who was hit by a pitch to start off the inning. That would be one of two runs for the Dirt Dawgs. Lerner scored again in the 8th inning, after reaching base due to a hit by pitch for the second time, when Shane Keddy singled for his second hit of the game.

The Suns bats were alive, as they scored 3 runs on starter Mike Spinosa who went 3 innings. Connor Ortolf came in to relieve in the 4th, and gave up 6 runs. He then pitched a scoreless 5th. Brian Orouke came into the game in the 6th and gave up 2 runs, the last the Suns would score. Nick Boutoures and John Lefeber each pitched a no-hit inning to end the game.

For the Suns, Zach Farris picked up the win, giving up just 2 hits and one run through 6 innings. The Dirt Dawgs are off on Sunday and will play on Doyle Field on Monday night against the Seacoast Mavericks. First pitch is at 6:35.
