Dirt Dawgs Get past Bravehearts in 10 Innings

LEOMINSTER, Mass (June 25, 2014). The Wachusett Dirt Dawgs get their first win ever against the Worcester Bravehearts by a final score of 8-7 in 10 innings.

The Dirt Dawgs rallied in the eighth to score two runs off a Joe Breen (Southern Connecticut) home run. Mike Corin (Rhode Island) would proceed to hit his seventh home run of the season in the bottom of the ninth inning to tie the game at seven. Ryan Venditti (UMass Amherst) got a key double play in the top of the tenth inning to prevent the Bravehearts from scoring. In the bottom of the tenth Richard Fecteau (Salem State) drew a walk with the bases loaded.

The Dirt Dawgs now have four walk off wins on the season. Corin tied a team record with seven home runs. He is eyeing the league record of 13.

The Bravehearts were led by Ian Strom (UMass Lowell) who had a home run in the first inning. Brad Speek (Kishwaukee College) had a solo home run in the second inning. Nate Pajka (Bates College) had two RBIs on the night.

The Dirt Dawgs will travel to visit the Torrington Titans on June 25th. Connor Smith (The College of New Jersey) will make his fourth start of the season.
