LEOMINSTER, Mass (July 5, 2014). Mike Lundin (Franklin Pierce) had one of his best games of the season for the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs but, unfortunately, they fell short against the Pittsfield Suns in a 4-1 game. Lundin took a no hitter into the sixth inning. He also struck out 12 batters in seven innings of work.
The Dirt Dawgs offense was led by Mattingly Romanin (Chicago State) who hit his sixth home run of the season for the Dirt Dawgs' only run of the game. Kurtis White (Frankin Pierce) also had two singles in the game. Joe Breen (Southern Connecticut) extended his hitting streak to 14 with a single in the ninth inning.
The Suns scored all four of their runs in the seventh inning. Gary Tesch (Pennsylvania) had a three run home run and BJ Bocchicio (Villanova) had an RBI single. Luke Reynolds (UMass Lowell) also had two hits in the game.
The Dirt Dawgs will travel to face the Martha's Vineyard Sharks on July 6th. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00. Dan Ditusa (Seton Hall) will take the mound for the Dirt Dawgs.
