The Pittsfield Suns make the most of 7 hits in 4-1 victory over the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs Jul 6th 2014, 01:43
Both the Pittsfield Suns (14-10) and the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs (10-17) put runners aboard on Saturday, but it was the Pittsfield Suns that were able to take advantage, pulling out a 4-1 win at Doyle Field.
The fact that the Pittsfield Suns grouped all of their runs into the seventh inning helped them take advantage of their hits.
Gary Tesch racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Pittsfield Suns. He homered in the seventh inning and singled in the ninth inning.
Jamin McCann picked up the win for the Pittsfield Suns. McCann pitched eight innings and allowed one earned run, eight hits and two walks while striking out five.
Mattingly Romanin was solid at the plate for the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs. Romanin went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the sixth inning and homered in the eighth inning.
Mike Lundin (1-1) took the loss for the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs. He lasted just seven innings, walked none, struck out 12, and allowed four runs.
