Amarillo Dillas News Release

AMARILLO, TX - For the eighth year, the Amarillo Globe-News has asked you to name the Best of Amarillo for everything from television personalities to restaurants. And it's another great year for our annual special section and event. The survey is done primarily online with a strong number of you voting. They have many names that are familiar to Best of Amarillo as well as a few new ones. This year also will feature the seventh annual Best of Amarillo event, which will feature many of the winners.

2009 marks the fourth consecutive year that the residents of Amarillo have voted the Dillas as the "Best Local Sports Team" and Dillas General Manager Mark Lee is humbled by the award. "This is the fourth year in a row that we (Dillas) have been voted and honored, by fellow Texans, as the "Best Local Sports Team", Lee said. "But truth be known, our fans should be receiving this award because without them there isn't any baseball in Amarillo, it's just that simple".

Lee and his staff continue to strive for excellence in providing great family entertainment while keeping it affordable. "With the economical struggles that has touched every house hold over the last 18 months, we were able to give folks a place to spend time together as a family and be able to afford some good family fun", Lee said.

And for Lee, the one constant that he preaches about is the loyal fan base of the Dillas always referring to them as "the best baseball fans in the world", and he continues to stand by that. "We want to pass along our sincere gratitude to our loyal fans and those who voted for us (Dillas)", Lee said. "We have the best fans in baseball - period".

The "Best of Amarillo" event will be held at the Galleries at Sunset Center located at 3701 Plains Boulevard, tonight from 5pm to 8pm.

The Amarillo Dillas Baseball Club is a charter member of United League Baseball, a Professional Independent League, with six teams playing in Texas. ULB teams are located in Amarillo, Coastal Bend, Edinburg, Harlingen, Laredo, and San Angelo.
