AMARILLO, TX - The Amarillo Dillas Baseball Club, Suddenlink, and "America Supports You Texas" proudly announced today they have joined hands to host a special event on Sunday, July 4, 2010. Over the past three years Suddenlink has provided Dillas fans with a little bit of everything from an Aaron Watson concert in 2007, throw-back Amarillo Gold Sox jerseys in 2008, and The Famous Chicken, last year. This year will provide the same excitement, but with a different focus, when Suddenlink and the Dillas celebrate Independence Day with a tribute to the men and women of the military.
President Harry S. Truman once said, "Our debt to the heroic men and valiant women in the service of our country can never be repaid. They have earned our undying gratitude. America will never forget their sacrifice". Those very words are the driving force behind this year's 4th of July celebration at the Amarillo National Bank Dilla Villa.
As part of their growing partnership with "America Supports You Texas", Suddenlink is honored to provide the non-profit organization a venue where they can live out their mission statement, which is to "Promote public awareness and support for our U.S. military service members and veterans, as well as their families".
"Suddenlink is proud to champion such a dedicated organization as America Supports YOU Texas especially during a memorable holiday. We all should celebrate our freedom and continue to support our troops!", Suddenlink Communications Marketing Manager Carrie Irwin said.
The festivities of the evening will include a special tribute to active and retired military members, fireworks show, and will start with a National Anthem performance by Contemporary Christian Music (CCM) artist, Shiloh. In 2009, Shiloh was part of a very similar celebration when they performed during Military Appreciation Night.
July 4th is a day to reflect upon and celebrate the lives of the individuals who have sacrificed their own being so that Americans can live freely on a daily basis. The Amarillo Dillas are a proud and staunch supporter of the military and General Manager Mark Lee wouldn't have it any other way.
"We (Dillas) are dedicated to supporting U.S. military service members and veterans and through our partnership with Suddenlink, the effort will continue into a fifth season", Dillas General Manager Mark Lee said. "We live under a blanket of freedom which is only possible by the dedication of the men and women of our military and to be able to host an event like this is not only a proud moment for this organization but more importantly it is a privilege".
The Amarillo Dillas Baseball Club is a charter member of United League Baseball, a Professional Independent League, with six teams playing in Texas. ULB teams are located in Amarillo, Coastal Bend, Edinburg, Harlingen, Laredo, and San Angelo.
