Amarillo Dillas News Release
AMARILLO, TX - The Amarillo Dillas Baseball Club announced today they have partnered with D&S Pharmacy to honor the branches of the United States Military, during the 2010 season. Over the last four years the Dillas have recognized the men and women protecting our country around the world and this year they intend to take the ceremonial salute a step further, with the help of D&S Pharmacies.
Armed Forces personnel serve the United States with loyalty and without prejudice and this newly formed partnership will ensure the efforts of these individuals will not go unnoticed or forgotten. The upcoming baseball season marks the fifth consecutive year that active and retired members of the military will be focused upon at the Amarillo National Bank Dilla Villa. There are many special nights at the ballpark but events that take a moment to share stories of heroism tend to spark resounding thoughts that make everyone realize the blanket of freedom and safety that is provided to Americans, but only through the dedication of the men and women of the Armed Forces.
"We (Dillas) are more than excited to partner with D&S Pharmacy to honor the military", Dillas General Manager Mark Lee said. "We pride ourselves on being more than just baseball and taking a moment to recognize these fine individuals is truly what makes coming to our ballpark a special event", said Lee.
During every home game as part of pre-game ceremonies, a member of the military will deliver an official United League baseball by walking out on the field and placing the ball on the pitching mound. At which time, the honored member will be recognized, over the stadium address, before a crowd of thousands with a special message of gratitude for their service to our country.
The Dillas intend to continue providing free tickets to military personnel through their "Salute the Troops" program which entitles individuals to receive four general admission tickets, as a special thank you from their organization.
"Every game is special to us regardless of the theme or promotion but taking our efforts to recognize the military a step further, makes every game just a bit more special", Lee said. "We will still hold a military appreciation night, just like we have every year, but now because of our relationship with D&S we will have one every night".
