Amarillo Dillas News Release

AMARILLO, TX- The Amarillo Dillas Baseball Club announced this morning that the open tryouts scheduled for this Sunday, May 16 has been cancelled due to weather and field conditions. This event will not be rescheduled.

With the rainfall currently taking place and the anticipated amount of precipitation expected over the next two days, coupled with recent renovations to the playing surface, Dillas management has taken a proactive approach to safety concerns. "Based on the rains of the morning and the amounts that have been forecasted (over the next two days) we felt it best to make a decision today", Dillas general manager Mark Lee said. "Likewise, we don't want players who are traveling from afar to spend money to get here only to find out that conditions are unsafe", Lee added. "Additionally, we have spent an enormous amount of time preparing the field over the last 10 days with many of the areas that would be used to conduct a proper tryout will be impacted by the weather".

Despite the anticipated rainfall for the weekend Dillas management doesn't expect any delays to the start of training camp which begins one week from today with the first official workout schedule for Friday, May 22 at 10am. Dillas training camp is open to the public and interested fans can visit www.myamarillodillas.com for posted workout times.
