DiBlasi Doubles In Deciding Runs, Austin Perfect in \'Hawks\' 5-1 win

ROCKFORD, Ill. – Utility man Chris DiBlasi doubled in the deciding runs and veteran right fielder Rich Austin was perfect at the plate on Thursday as the Rockford RiverHawks completed a three-game sweep of the Springfield/Ozark Ducks with a 5-1 win at Marinelli Field.

DiBlasi gave the RiverHawks a 2-1 lead with a two-run double to left field in the fifth inning off of Springfield starter and loser Jamie Bennett (0-1).

Austin drove in insurance runs on a sixth-inning sacrifice fly and on a two-run double in the eighth inning. Austin was 3-for-3 with three RBI and extended his season-opening hitting streak to six games.

Derrick Ellison (1-0), the second of four Rockford pitchers, threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings for the win. Josh Latimer struck out five in two scoreless innings for his first save.

The RiverHawks hit the road for six games at Gateway and River City. A three-game series against the defending champion Grizzlies begins at 7:05 p.m. Friday in Sauget. The RiverHawks' next home game is 7:05 p.m. Thursday, June 3, against Mid-Missouri, on a Miller Lite Dollar Beer Night.

All games are broadcasted live on WRHL-FM, 102.3 – the Hub and at the team website. The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league in its 12th season.
