Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs News Release
When you look up Mohawk Valley DiamondDawg Jesse Buratt on the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League roster you find him listed under infielders. When Buratt woke up this morning he was just another kid from Geismar, Louisiana chasing his dream to someday make it on a major league roster. The sophomore infielder and pitcher who played his college ball at Baton Rouge Community College and just recently committed to Southeastern Louisiana University for the 2012-13 academic year decided to follow his dream to Little Falls, NY this summer and play summer ball here - miles away from Geismar, Louisiana.
Before heading south this morning down the New York State Thruway to Bellizzi field to face the Albany Dutchman in a doubleheader - Jesse Buratt's stats read something like this. A 4.25 earned run average, a 1-0 record, 11 hits, 8 runs, and 10 strikeouts in 10.1 innings pitched and 4 appearances.
After getting the call from head coach Roberto Vaz and pitching coach Matthew Erzar that he would get the start in game one of the doubleheader - Buratt has a few more accolades to add to his repertoire. Buratt recorded the first no-hitter in Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League and Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs franchise history on Wednesday night at Bellizzi field in Albany. Buratt pitched a complete game seven inning no-hitter (doubleheader) striking out three, hitting one batter, walking two and having an error occur behind him.
The DiamondDawgs obviously won the no-hit game 5-0 and went on to win game two as well by a final score of 11-3 improving to 16-13 on the season and extending its winning streak to a season high seven games.
So with about three weeks left in the PCGBL season - Buratt has already forever etched himself in the history of the league record books as well as in the in the magical season of first's for the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs. This season the DiamondDawgs welcomed the first Little Falls native to wear the DiamondDawg colors in Evan Davis and now they have their first member of the no-hit club!
The Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs and its fans congratulate Jesse Buratt on his remarkable feat!
