(Jackson, TN)- Renyel Pinto made sure the Carolina Mudcats wouldn't be the first team to sweep a series from the Diamond Jaxx this season. Pinto gave up a run on just four hits over six innings of work to lift the Diamond Jaxx to a convincing 8-1 win over Carolina in the final game of the three game series. The win puts the Diamond Jaxx in a tie for first place in the Northern Division with the Mudcats.

Pinto (7-2) gave up the only Carolina run of the game in the first inning as he allowed two hits in the inning. Carolina would get two hits over the next five innings off the Miranda, Venezuela native.

While Pinto was holding the Carolina bats in check, the Diamond Jaxx were jumping on Carolina starter Yorman Bazardo. Bazardo surrendured four runs (three earned) on five hits in 1 1/3 innings of work. Bazardo was taken out of the game and then traded to the Seattle Mariners along with Mudcats reliever Mike Flannery for LHP Ron Villone.

Ryan Theriot had a three hit game to pace the Diamond Jaxx ten hit attack. Casey Kopitzke helped the cause by driving in two runs. In his second game of his rehab stint, Nomar Garciaparra went 1-2 with a walk and a run scored. He will continue his rehab stint with the Diamond Jaxx through Wednesday's game against Huntsville.

Tuesday night the Diamond Jaxx open up a three game series with the Huntsville Stars. Right-hander Ricky Nolasco (10-1 3.22) will start for the Diamond Jaxx.
