Devin Ivany promoted to Harrisburg

WOODBRIDGE, Va.- The Potomac Nationals announced today that catcher Devin Ivany has been promoted to Double-A Harrisburg, and Jhonatan Solano has been called up from Low-A Hagerstown to replace Ivany on Potomac's 25-man roster.

Ivany is the second P-Nat this season to receive a promotion to Double-A Harrisburg, joining Ofilio Castro who was sent to the Senators earlier this month. Ivany, Washington's sixth-round pick in the 2004 First-Year Player Draft, hit .250 with one home run and six RBI in 11 games with the P-Nats in 2008.

The University of South Florida product spent the beginning of the 2007 season with Double-A Harrisburg, appearing in 22 games for the Senators and hitting .178 with seven RBI.

Solano, signed by the Nationals as a non-drafted free agent in 2005, was hitting .218 with five RBI in 16 games for Low-A Hagerstown at the time of his promotion. The Columbia native is in just his third season of professional baseball and has never played above Low-A.

The 24-year-old began his professional career in 2006 with the Gulf Coast League Nationals appearing in 37 games and hitting .256. Solano spent all of the 2007 season with the Suns hitting .248 with three home runs and was second on the team in walks.
