Adirondack Phantoms News Release
LOWELL, MA - The Lowell Devils erased a 2-1 first intermission deficit with a five-goal second period to take a 6-3 win over the Philadelphia Phantoms on Sunday afternoon in Massachusetts. Lars Jonsson had two goals for the Phantoms, while Darren Reid scored for the seventh time in the last six games.
The Devils took a 1-0 lead early on when Aaron Voros scored at the end of an odd-man rush 3:14 into the contest. But Jonsson pulled the Phantoms ahead, first with an unassisted tally at 8:09 on a shot from the point, and the second at 11:14 on a puck he tossed in front and saw it bounce off goaltender Jordan Parise and over the line, giving Philadelphia the 2-1 lead after 20 minutes.
But Lowell came roaring out after the break, scoring three power play goals and two even-strength tallies. Voros was the first to find the net on the power play, while Dan McGillis scored on a five-on-three and Chris Minard also scored man-up. Dave Clarkson and Petr Vrana collected even-strength goals.
Reid had Philadelphia's lone second-period goal, extending his personal scoring streak to six games. He scored on the power play off assists from Jussi Timonen and Matt Ellison. A scoreless third period put an end to the contest.
Scott Munroe absorbed the loss with 30 saves on 36 shots, while Parise took the win with 25 saves on 28 Phantoms chances. Lowell was 3-for-9 on the power play, compared to a 1-for-1 day for Philadelphia.
The Phantoms wrap up their four-game road swing on Wednesday night in Binghamton against the Senators. Philadelphia's next home game is Friday, January 19 at 7:05 against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. It's NASCAR Night with the Phantoms, with the first 5,000 fans taking home a Phantoms matchbox car courtesy of Ransome-Cat.
