Albany Devils News Release

LOWELL, Mass. - The Lowell Devils could not dig themselves out of an early hole and fell to the Worcester Sharks, 3-2 in Game 3 of the Atlantic Division Semifinal on Saturday at the Tsongas Center. The victory gives the Sharks a 2-1 edge in the best-of-seven series.

For the second straight game the Sharks opened the scoring and were able to own a 2-0 lead after the first period. Dan DaSilva made it 1-0 for Worcester at 5:24 of the first when he had his first shot stopped by the glove of Mike McKenna, but was able to sweep in the rebound chance.

T.J. Trevelyan put the Sharks up by two soon after Frazer McLaren stepped out of the penalty box to give the Sharks the man-advantage. Stationed on the blueline of the Devils zone, Andrew Desjardins sent a pass to a streaking Trevelyan, who found twine with a wrist shot from the top of the far circle.

Trying to avoid going into the third period down, 2-0, Lowell got on the board with 2:08 left until the intermission. David McIntyre popped out of a pile in the left circle and got Alex Stalock down to the ice before tucking in the forehand shot for a power play tally and his first professional postseason goal.

Worcester didn't need long to regain their two-goal lead as Derek Joslin's bid from the high slot clipped off a stick and over the shoulder of Mike McKenna with 40.2 seconds remaining in the period.

The Devils got back within one with another power play goal at the 14:07 mark of the third. Nathan Perkovich set the screen in front of Stalock that allowed Matt Taormina to drive home his first of the playoffs.

Unlike Game 2, Lowell would be unable to find a second scoring strike to knot the game. Stalock notched the win with 32 saves of 34 shots, while McKenna turned aside 28-of-31.
