Yakima Bears News Release

YAKIMA, Wash. - The Tri-City Dust Devils (40-26) broke open a tie ballgame with five runs in the second innings and cruised to an 8-1 victory over the Yakima Bears (23-43) in front of 1,967 fans at County Stadium Thursday night.

Ryan Wheeler drove in the Bears' only run to tie the game in the bottom of the first before starter Houston Summers allowed five runs - four coming with two outs - in the top of the second as the Devils pulled away.

Tri-City tacked on two more runs in the fifth inning on a Tim Wheeler line drive home run to right.

Sheng-An Kuo (4-3) was very effective for the Devils, going seven innings, allowing just one run on six hits to pick up the victory. Houston Summers (2-1) pitched four frames, allowing six runs on ten hits to take the loss.

Justin Albert looked sharp out of the Bears bullpen, tossing two perfect innings and collecting one strikeout. Brent Greer was the only Yakima Bear with multiple hits, finishing the night 2-for-4 with a run scored.

With the loss the Bears have now dropped six in a row, including five in the last five nights to Tri-City. The two teams play the finale Friday night at 7:05. Brad Wilson (2-1, 3.77 ERA) gets the start the Yakima against Wes Musick (1-0, 1.88 ERA) for Tri-City.
