Waza Flo News Release

(Detroit, MI January 9, 2012)-After a well deserved holiday break, Detroit wowed a packed and enthusiastic house by dominating the Illinois Piasa in an exciting return to action last night beating Illinois 12-3.

The Piasa, coming off of a Friday night loss in Louisville, looked to save their road weekend, and quickly scored the only point of the first quarter (Blake Ordell-F). Dominic Scicluna(F) and Aaron Byrd (M) each with a goal, put Detroit on the scoreboard early in the second quarter but Illinois quickly answered with two of their own goals (Elvir Kafedzic-M).

"It was close for the first half of the game," said Detroit head-coach Dominic Scicluna. "Because of the break, we lost some of our rhythm. At the half, we demanded the team add more defensive pressure and they came through with a vengeance".

Detroit continued their dominance for the remainder of the third and fourth quarters outscoring Illinois 9-0 to put the result well beyond doubt before the final buzzer.

Aaron Byrd (M) gave a stellar performance for Detroit, with three goals (two of which were unassisted) and 4 assists. Other standouts for Detroit include Costea Decu (D) with three goals and two assists, Miki Djerisilo (M) with two goals and two assists, and veteran forwards and perennial crowd pleasers, Dominic Scicluna (F) and Worteh Sampson (F) who each had a pair of goals and assists keeping Detroit in the lead and atop of the Eastern Division of the PASL.

"I was happy with my team's performance. They work hard and it is paying off," added head-coach Dominic Scicluna.
