SHOCK BURNT BY THE CONNECTICUT SUN

Detroit slimmed a 17-point deficit to five in the final minute, but could not catch Connecticut in Saturday's 73-63 road loss. Deanna Nolan hit a 3-pointer to pull the Shock within 68-63 before the Sun sealed the win at the free-throw line. Chandi Jones led Detroit with 11 points, while Ayana Walker scored nine.

Shock fall to the fever in ot

Detroit gave the Indiana Fever a good fight on Wednesday's overtime 79-84 loss. The Fever lead the Shock going into the second half, Deanna Nolan helped tie the score with 32 points, while Stacey Thomas racked up 6 rebounds. In overtime the Shock only scored four points, while the Fever sunk nine.

Cash Participated in reading center dedication

Although rehabilitation from knee surgery has kept her from stepping out on the court this season, Detroit Shock Forward Swin Cash won't be sidelined when it comes to being active in the community. Cash appeared at the opening of the Detroit Pistons Reading and Learning Center at Grant School in Detroit on Wednesday, June 15 in conjunction with the NBA Finals. The Pistons and the NBA renovated the room in seven days, the quickest ever for a project of its type. The newly renovated Reading and Learning Center includes thousands of books donated by ABC Sports, along with resource guides and materials to the hundreds of children attending the facility each day. In addition, the Reading and Learning Center includes a donation of desktop computers, printers, educational software and multi-media equipment, photos and educational posters provided by the NBA.

Shock giveaways this week

The first 3,000 fans in attendance when the Shock take on the Washington Mystics on Friday, June 24 will receive a Swin Cash visor courtesy of Rock Financial. The first 3,000 fans to arrive at the game on Sunday, June 26 against the Los Angeles Sparks will receive, Peace of Mind, a children's book written by Shock forward Swin Cash, courtesy of the Michigan Nurses Association.

DAD AND DAUGHTER DAYS AT THE PALACE

As part of a league-wide campaign this summer, the Detroit Shock will host Dad and Daughter nights on June 24 against Washington, July 17 against Indiana, and August 21 against Washington. On these nights, dads and daughters have the opportunity to compete in a dribbling obstacle course on the Palace court, enjoy the pre-game ShockFest, and cheer on their favorite Shock players.
