IGNITION INKS COACH TO MULTI-YEAR CONTRACT EXTENSION
The Detroit Ignition and head coach Mark Pulisic have agreed to a two-year contract extension which will keep the Long Island native behind the team's bench through the 2008-09 season, Ignition President Greg Bibb announced Thursday. Pulisic, who received Major Indoor Soccer League Coach of the Year honors during the 2006-07 season, led the Ignition to a League-best 18-12 record and an appearance in the MISL Championship Series Final during the club's inaugural campaign. IGNITION CAPTAIN NOVI MAROJEVIC ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT
The Detroit Ignition has announced Novi Marojevic, the club's first team captain, is retiring from the Major Indoor Soccer League after eight successful seasons. Marojevic, 34, will focus on opportunities outside of soccer. Marojevic joined the Ignition through the 2006 MISL Expansion Draft and was named the team's captain in November. "I want to thank the fans for their tremendous support and the entire Detroit Ignition organization for everything throughout the season," said Marojevic. "This was a very difficult decision for me but I look forward to returning to my wife Jadranka and my son Marko.
