
Destroyers Reserve Unsigned List

Virginia Beach, VA (April 20, 2011) The Virginia Destroyers of the United Football League and Head Coach / GM MARTY SCHOTTENHEIMER have announced their 10-player reserve unsigned players list. The list is comprised of veteran players who are not currently signed to a team in any professional football league.
The Destroyers have the most veteran-laden reserve unsigned list in the UFL. Some of the more prominent names include former Pittsburgh Steelers 1,000-yard rusher WILLIE PARKER, former Miami Dolphins and University of West Virginia quarterback PAT WHITE, former Philadelphia Eagles wide receivers REGGIE BROWN and HANK BASKETT, ex-Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans cornerback JACQUES REEVES and nine-year veteran offensive tackle KEVIN SHAFFER.
The unsigned players the Destroyers have UFL rights to have impressive NFL and college football resumes.
Willie Parker

- Parker was an undrafted free agent with the Steelers in 2004. In the third quarter of Super Bowl XL, he scored a 75-yard touchdown, the longest rushing play in Super Bowl history, to give the Steelers a 14-3 lead over the Seattle Seahawks. Parker finished the game with 93 yards on 10 carries and an average of 9.3 yards a carry, the third-best average in Super Bowl history (minimum 10 carries). Parker gave his Super Bowl ring to his father Willie Parker Sr. as a gift. On April 2, 2010, Parker signed with the Washington Redskins, adding a third running back to Washington's committee of Clinton Portis and Larry Johnson. He was released during final cuts on September 4, 2010.

- White is third on the total offense yards list in a season in West Virginia school history with 2,878 yards. He also has the most rushing yards in a season by a West Virginia quarterback with 1,219 yards. White was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the 2009 NFL Draft. White competed for the starting quarterback job with Chad Pennington and Chad Henne, while also being used in the Wildcat formation. After being waived by the Dolphins in 2010, White signed a minor league baseball contract with the Kansas City Royals. Prior to the 2011 baseball season, White announced his retirement
Hank Baskett

- Baskett has played for three NFL teams, the Minnesota Vikings, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Indianapolis Colts. In 2006, Baskett signed with the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted rookie free agent and was traded that season to the Philadelphia Eagles. Baskett completed his rookie season with the Eagles with 22 catches and two touchdowns. In 2009, Baskett joined the Indianapolis Colts. He returned to the Eagles in 2010, but was released and signed with the Vikings. Baskett married model Kendra Wilkinson in 2009 and co-stars in Kendra, a reality TV series following Wilkinson's life.

- Brown was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the second round of the 2005 NFL Draft. In his rookie season, Brown was promoted to the starting spot. In his first start, he caught five passes for 94 yards and one touchdown against the Washington Redskins. In his second meeting against the division-rival Redskins, he caught two first half touchdowns. This impressive performance capped a promising rookie year. Brown led all rookie receivers with 571 yards and was second with 43 receptions.

- The Dallas Cowboys drafted Reeves in the seventh round in 2004. The Texans signed Reeves to a five-year contract in 2008. He ended up starting 21 of 28 games over the past two seasons.
KEVIN SHAFFER
Offensive Tackle

- Shaffer was selected by the Atlanta Falcons in the seventh round in the 2002 NFL Draft. In his rookie season, he played in six regular season games plus two post season games. In his third season for the Falcons, Shaffer started in 15 games and was a member of the offensive line that ranked first in the NFL with 2,672 rushing yards. In 2006, he signed with the Cleveland Browns as unrestricted free agent. Shaffer started in all 16 regular season games with the Browns. After being released by the Browns in 2009, Shaffer played with the Chicago Bears until being released in 2011.
