COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Columbus Destroyers have signed wide receiver/defensive back Carl Bond and placed lineman John Culp on waivers, team President David Paitson announced today. The team also activated defensive specialist Brandon Hefflin off Injured Reserve and placed wide receiver/defensive back Eddie Galles on IR.

Bond (5-11, 205, Connecticut) is a five year Arena Football League veteran, spending last season with the New Orleans VooDoo. He has 225 career catches for 2,521 yards and 47 touchdowns, with an additional four touchdowns on returns. On defense, Bond has recorded seven career interceptions and eight pass break-ups. Hefflin (6-1, 190, Toledo) is in his second AFL season. He's been limited to one game with the Destroyers this year due to an ankle injury, making two tackles. Last season, his AFL rookie campaign, he led the Destroyers with 76.5 tackles, which ranked tied for 12th in the league.

Galles (6-2, 205, Northern Iowa) was placed on IR due to a toe injury and will miss this weekend's game at Kansas City. He has nine catches for 76 yards and two touchdowns this season, his first in the AFL.

The Destroyers return to action on Sunday when they travel to Kansas City to face the Brigade. The game is scheduled for a 2 p.m. kickoff. The Destroyers next home game is 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 24 against the Arizona Rattlers.
