
Destroyers And Cleveland Gladiators To Play For Battle Of The Buckeye State Trophy

COLUMBUS, OH - The defending National Conference champion Columbus Destroyers kick off their 2008 home schedule at Nationwide Arena with a contest against the Cleveland Gladiators (formerly Las Vegas Gladiators), on Saturday, March 15 at 7 p.m.
In honor of this new in-state rivalry, the winning team will be awarded the Battle of the Buckeye State Trophy presented by Columbus Worthington Air. The victors will keep the trophy until the teams meet again at the winner's home arena during the 2009 season. The custom trophy features a large Buckeye atop a base crafted from American Walnut and Buckeye wood from Ohio.
Also during the home opener, the 2007 National Conference championship banner will be raised and the first 10,000 fans will receive a 2008 Destroyers magnet schedule. After the game, along with the Nationwide Post- Game Autograph Session, fans are invited to participate in the Giant Eagle Ham Toss.
