Colorado Crush News Release

DENVER, Colo. - The sun was shining and the wind finally quieted giving the Colorado Crush the opportunity to open the playbook in their first full-contact, scrimmage-style practice of the season. The warmer weather was certainly a welcome change for the Crush players and coaches who had grown accustomed to practicing in wind and cold through the first days of camp.

The full-contact practice also brought out the team's first injury of the season when DB Rashad Floyd took a knee to the side of the helmet from FB/LB Robert Thomas. Floyd went low while trying to make the tackle and according to head coach Mike Dailey suffered what "could be termed a mild concussion." Floyd was taken to the hospital after practice as a precautionary measure, but is not expected to miss any significant time in training camp.

The first active roster move of training camp took place on Tuesday as DB Chaz Williams was waived when K Clay Rush was activated from the "Failed to Report" list.

DAIL(E)Y DOSE

General:

"I'm very happy with the progress our guys are making. It was the first live team scrimmage so far and I thought we had good tempo. We had some new guys make some great plays and that is something we are excited to see happen."

On the hitting in the scrimmage:

"These guys are football players. They want to get out there and bang each other around. It was fun. Whether its youth football or the NFL, these guys want to have fun out there and hitting is fun for them. At this level, it's a job but it should still be fun and its encouraging for the coaches to see some emotion out there."

On the release of Chazman Williams:

"We just felt like he wasn't as far along as some of our other defensive backs at this point and we have a lot of new guys back there that we anteed to get some reps. It also gave us a chance to activate Clay Rush and get him in camp here and that will be good to get some special teams reps going and start to develop that timing with the center, the holder, and Clay."

The Crush continue training camp throughout the week and have just four more practices before a two-day scrimmage with the Utah Blaze on February 19th and 20th. (Times TBA)
