Desperados Return to Reunion to Face Avengers

After digging themselves into an early two touchdown hole, the Dallas Desperados were able to fight back in the second half to claim a 60-54 overtime victory over the Chicago Rush last Sunday. With interceptions on their first two possessions, Dallas quickly fell behind 14-0, but were able to cut their deficit to 11 points by halftime. They then opened the second half with a back, outscoring the Rush 22-7 in the third quarter to take a 38-35 lead. Chicago battled to a 54-46 advantage with 1:00 remaining in the game, but the Desperados drove the length of the field to tie the score with a Kubiak-to-McCullough touchdown pass and Kubiak-to-Pettis two-point conversion with 0:03 showing on the clock. Dallas forced a Rush fumble at the goal line on the first possession of overtime, then claimed victory when McCullough raced 37 yards with a screen pass for the winning touchdown.
Dallas returns to Reunion Arena this week to face former Western Division rival Los Angeles Avengers at 2:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon. NBC Sports will televise the game, with Tom Hammond and Pat Haden calling the action.
The Desperados begin preparations for the Avengers on Wednesday, April 23 at Texas Stadium. They will continue their work Thursday (April 24) and Friday (April 25) at Texas Stadium (weather permitting). In the event of inclement weather, the club will practice at the American Indoor Sports Center at Hebron Parkway and Highway 121 (behind the Sonic). Coach Avezzano will host his weekly press briefing on Wednesday at approximately Noon in the visitor's locker room at Texas Stadium.
Dallas returns to Reunion Arena on May 4 when the Tampa Bay Storm come to town.
