Desperados Play for Division Title in Grand Rapids

The Dallas Desperados, having clinched a playoff berth, are on the verge of clinching a first-round home playoff game after defeating the Georgia Force 56-55 last Saturday night at the Arena at Gwinnett Center. The Desperados jumped out early, building a 28-13 lead midway through the second quarter and a 42-26 lead after three quarters. Dallas then had to hold on as the Force scored 29 fourth quarter points in cutting their deficit to a single point. Following a missed Jason Wells field goal with 0:10 remaining in the game, the Desperados held on as Georgia left a 58-yard field goal attempt short as the clock expired.
Dallas closes out the regular season this week when it travels to Michigan to take on the Grand Rapids Rampage at 2:00 p.m. (CT) Sunday afternoon. The winner of Sunday's meeting will claim the 2003 Central Division title and guarantee itself a home playoff game the weekend of May 24-25. NBC Sports will televise this week's game, with Tom Hammond and Pat Haden calling the action.
The Desperados begin preparations for the Rampage on Wednesday, May 14 at Texas Stadium (weather permitting). They will continue their work Thursday (May 15) and Friday (May 16) at Texas Stadium (weather permitting) before traveling to Grand Rapids on Saturday (May 17). In the event of inclement weather, the club will email notice of the new practice location. Coach Avezzano will host his weekly press briefing on Wednesday at approximately 11:30 a.m. in the visitor's locker room at Texas Stadium.
