Desperados Alter Roster Due to Injuries

May 16, 2003 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Dallas Desperados News Release

The Dallas Desperados today announced that they have placed defensive specialist Kareem Larrimore and OL/DL Doug Lytle on the Reserve/Injured list and have activated OL/DL Ben Huff and WR/DB Sirr Parker from Reserve/Injured.

Larrimore was placed on Reserve/Injured with a strained lower back, which he re-aggravated during practice on Wednesday. He had returned to the playing field last week in Georgia to post three tackles, return four kickoffs for 72 yards and a missed field goal for 17 yards after spending the previous three weeks on the Reserve/Injured list with a strained lower back. Prior to the injury, he had recorded 24 tackles, half a tackle for a loss, three passes defensed and two interceptions while returning 23 kickoffs for 404 yards (17.6 avg.). He had a four week stint on Reserve/Injured earlier in the season with a sprained MCL in his right knee.

Lytle was moved to the Reserve/Injured list after tearing the Anterior Cruciate Ligament and Medial Collateral Ligament in his left knee during last week's game in Georgia. He will undergo reconstructive surgery on Monday. Lytle's work in the middle of the Desperados offensive line helped quarterback Jim Kubiak have a career year in which he is leading or near the top of every major passing category in the league. Lytle has also recorded 9.5 tackles, a fumble recovery and half a tackle for a loss on the defensive side of the ball.

Taking Lytle's spot on the roster will be OL/DL Ben Huff. Huff – who joined the Desperados via a trade with Detroit on Oct. 23, 2002 – began the season on the Desperados active roster but was declared inactive the first five games of the season. He was placed on Reserve/Injured on Feb. 28 with quadriceps tendonitis, but was activated from the list on March 27. He was inactive against Indiana (3/29) before being placed back on Reserve/Injured on April 3 with turf toe. He will work behind Jamie Lovern at center and will see action this weekend in Grand Rapids.

Also being activated from Reserve/Injured is WR/DB Sirr Parker. Parker – a rookie from Texas A&M – was inactive for the first nine games of the season before being paced on the Reserve/Injured list on April 3 with right knee tendonitis. He will be in uniform in Grand Rapids with a chance to see his first indoor action.
