Desperados Acquire Truluck, Tucker, Huff From Fury

The Dallas Desperados today acquired OL/DL Ben Huff, OL/DL R-Kal Truluck and WR/DB Shawndel Tucker from the Detroit Fury to finalize the trade that sent QB Andy Kelly, WR/DB Jason Kaiser and OL/DL Matt Norwood to Detroit a month ago.
Truluck played two seasons with the Fury, earning Rookie of the Year honors in 2001 and Lineman of the Year honors in 2002. He led the AFL with nine sacks in 2002 after finishing second in the league with 8.5 sacks in 2001. He finished last spring with 33 tackles and two forced fumbles to go with his nine sacks. Truluck recorded two tackles and a sack against Dallas on July 6. He is considered to be one of the best pass rushers in the Arena Football League.
Tucker also played two seasons in Detroit, providing the Fury with one of their top receivers and kick returners. This past spring, he caught 38 passes for 562 yards and 10 touchdowns while returning 17 kickoffs for 380 yards and two scores. His 22.4 kickoff return average was the fifth best average in the league. He also posted 11 tackles on the defensive side of the ball. Against Dallas (7/6), Tucker caught eight passes for 134 yards and three touchdowns and returned six kickoffs for 96 yards.
Huff played in four games with Detroit last spring after signing with the team prior to the Week 11 game against New Jersey (6/29). He played in the final four games of the season, recording one tackle and a fumble recovery.
The Desperados had also acquired the second pick in the AFL Dispersal Draft â which was held Wednesday, Oct. 22 â from Detroit as part of the trade. With the selection, Dallas chose WR/DB Luke Leverson from the Toronto Phantoms. Leverson saw action in 13 games last spring, catching 35 passes for 476 yards and six touchdowns while recording 21 tackles, three passes defensed and two interceptions on the defensive side of the ball.
