Detroit Fury News Release

AUBURN HILLS, MICH. - The Detroit Fury of the Arena Football League (AFL) announced today that OL/DL Ben Huff, OL/DL R-Kal Truluck and OS Shawndel Tucker have been traded to the Dallas Desperados. The move completes the previous trade with Dallas that had Detroit acquire QB Andy Kelly, WR/DB Jason Kaiser and OL/DL Matt Norwood.

"It came down to Detroit really needing to solidify the quarterback position," said Fury GM and Head Coach Al Luginbill. "What we did was trade one one-dimensional player for another. Truluck is an outstanding pass rusher but is very marginal on offense. Kelly is an outstanding quarterback and that is his only job. The other players help both teams in both positions."

Truluck played two seasons with the Fury, notching Rookie of the Year in 2001 and Lineman of the Year in 2002. Truluck led the AFL in sacks in 2002 and was second in the league in 2001. Last season, Truluck played in all 14 games and totaled 33 tackles, two forced fumbles and nine sacks. One of his fumbles he recovered for an 11-yard TD.

Tucker also played two seasons with Detroit. Tucker provided the squad with a solid player on the offensive side of the ball and as a kick returner. He played in all 14 games last season, catching 38 balls for 562 yards and 10 TDs. He returned 17 kickoffs for 380 yards and two TDs. Tucker finished the season second on the team in scoring with 72 points and in receiving yards. He also chipped in with 11 tackles. In 2001, Tucker saw action in just five games, pulling in two passes for 27 yards. Finished the season ranked sixth on the team in all-purpose yards with 145.

Huff played in just four games with Detroit last season, as he was signed prior to week 11. Huff finished the season with one tackle and one fumble recovery.

Detroit kicks off their third season in the AFL on Sunday, February 2 when they host the Indiana Firebirds at 3 PM. Tickets are now on sale at detroitfury.com or by calling (248) 377-0100.
