Desnoyers Named Michel-Bergeron Trophy Finalist

The QMJHL will continue to honour its own through the Golden Puck Awards, until May 7. Today, the finalists for the Michel-Bergeron Trophy, presented to the Offensive Rookie of the Year.

The three nominees are:

Raoul Boilard, Baie-Comeau Drakkar

In 68 games, Boilard led all QMJHL rookies with 40 assists and 62 points, finishing third in scoring for the mighty Drakkar. The 17-year-old center also led all first-year players with a +27 differential, 563 face-off wins and 57.6% efficiency in the face-off circle. Boilard is expected to be drafted by an NHL team in late June.

Caleb Desnoyers, Moncton Wildcats

The first overall pick in the 2023 QMJHL Entry Draft, Desnoyers completed his 16-year-old season with 20 goals and 36 assists for 56 points in 60 games. Among rookies, he finished third in points, power-play assists (18) and face-off efficiency (53.9%). Only Raoul Boilard had more helpers than Desnoyers.

Émile Guité, Chicoutimi Saguenéens

Drafted just behind Desnoyers last June, Guité finished second in the league among rookies with 25 goals and 57 points in 61 games. His 11 power-play goals also earned him second place among first-year players. At just 16 years of age, he finished third in team scoring for the promising Saguenéens.
