CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - Michael Dery scored a goal while assisting another, and Anthony Stolarz stopped 30 shots as the Corpus Christi IceRays slid by the Wichita Falls Wildcats 3-2 inside the American Bank Center.
The Wildcats were given a penalty shot and Tanner Fahlstedt converted, beating Anthony Stolarz top shelf to give Wichita Falls a 1-0 lead 15:44 into regulation.
Corpus Christi struck back in the second period and Michael Dery notched his fourth goal in three games as he scooped up a rebound 2:28 into the second period tied the game 1-1.
The IceRays had many power-play chances and Travis Maxwell converted on the man up 9:30 into the second period to give the IceRays a 2-1 advantage.
Corpus Christi increase the lead when Joe Smereck picked up a rebound and fired it top shelf at 2:01 of the final period to increase the IceRays lead 3-1 over Wichita Falls.
The Wildcats pulled within a goal on a controversial goal that was right on the goal line. The red light did not come on, however the goal was awarded to Adam Barlow to make it a 3-2 game.
Corpus Christi held on to end their two game losing streak and goaltender Anthony Stolarz stopped 30 of 32 shots.
The IceRays are home tomorrow night once again as they host the Wildcats on New Year's Eve. Puck drops at 7:05PM, coverage begins at 6:50PM with the IceRays Pregame Show on ESPN Radio 1440AM.
